I love this more than I can express in words. I had an experience with an Asian octogenarian last week that involved taking a photo (with her phone) of another Asian octogenarian’s wheelchair just in time for her to get onto the approaching bus with her walker. I worry sometimes about being old and alone but seeing people from other cultures ask for and in many ways expect help from those younger than them gives me hope that I’ll be able to do the same someday. Gotta remember to carry fruit in my satchel.
haha yessss, fruit in satchel is the great equalizer (wouldn't have known that without this specific encounter, however). i love the expectation of help, too, and look fwd to demanding it and seeing what delightful encounters result.
